Live on the east coast and wish you could drive those mountain roads of the Rockies? Well, take the 8 mile road up Mt. Washington and you won't be left wanting much longer. This is a tortuous, curvy little road on the way up and on the way down it'll leave your brakes crying uncle pic1 car used. The views from up there are something else of course! Come to think of it, I'm not so sure that I'd take my own would-be Porsche up there because the turns are a little too tight to be fun and all that dust and gravel working on the paintjob would give me ulcers. Better to just drive to the western slope instead and take the train up which is a blast. The ride from Portsmouth to Concord (4) is very scenic and a great drive but traffic tends to be heavy.
