I haven't experienced the coastal rides which are probably the state's highlights according to those who've been there, done that. However, a drive not to be missed should be the one through Crater Lake NP map. An all-wheel drive car would be the ideal candidate as 20-ft high snow drifts last year round adding not only to the beauty of the area but to extra-challenging driving as well should snowslides fall on the road.
Need a good desolate patch of road to get some speed going? Try north of Bend on 97 all the way to the border with Washington map. It's not only lightly-trafficked but scenic in a barren sort of way as well.
