With Dana leaving in a few days we wanted to devote as much time to Rome as possible for the grand finale and with this in mind as soon as we woke up we were on our way. The only problem was logistical. I steadfastedly refused to contemplate driving in Rome and worrying about the hassle and expense of parking. What I wanted was a convenient hotel from which we could easily jaunt into Rome for day trips using public transportation while the car was parked at the hotel. I hadn’t really done my homework on exactly how I was going to do this and driving into town with this blindfold of sorts was a low-level source of stress since arriving in Europe.
Luckily things worked out. We got to the outskirts of Rome by early afternoon and on the third hotel we tried not only was it on the bus route into Rome but it had its own wifi hot spot. And the rate was not unreasonable either at 40 Euros a night.
It was too late in the day to try and do any sightseeing so we spent the rest of the day relaxing in the room and enjoying the internet access.
